Winter League Recaps - 12/5

VENEZUELAN WINTER LEAGUE

Magallanes over Zulia 10-0
2B Jose Altuve led off the sixth inning with a solo home run and then added on a two RBI double later in the same inning as Magallanes sent 15 batters to the plate in a 10-run frame.

Aragua over Lara 6-3
Jose Martinez hadn't played for a few days but was back in the line up for Aragua last night as the DH. He had one hit over four at-bats

DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE

Aguilas over Licey 8-7
Jonathan Villar hasn't gotten much work this winter. He has been used primarily as a pinch runner and/or late inning defensive replacement, which was the case again last night. But I suppose that's going to happen when you have Miguel Tejada playing at short. Villar has only gotten 16 at-bats in 18 games.

Estrellas over Gigantes 1-0
Just a quick note that Jimmy Paredes has still not played in a game since he, his wife and two other players were involved in a car accident on Saturday. *RHP Enerio del Rosario retired his one batter faced for the Gigantes team and has still not allowed a run in 10 appearances.

PUERTO RICAN WINTER LEAGUE

Santurce over Carolina 4-3
2B Kiké Hernandez continues to be hot at the plate as he went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored for Carolina last night. C Carlos Corporan went hitless, but drew a walk. SS Carlos Correa was 0-for-3 and struck out twice.

Ponce over Caguas 7-6
*RHP Adalberto Flores gave up one run on one hit and two walks in one third of an inning for Ponce.
