Two Former Astros Farm Hands Move On

In case you missed this bit of news tucked away in this article about his fiance, OF Drew Locke has apparently retired. Locke was originally picked up by Houston in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft from Los Angeles and played in the Houston organization from 2009 to 2011 before becoming a free agent and signing with the Independent League Sugar Land Skeeters. Locke then re-signed with Houston last June, playing for the Corpus Christi Hooks. He made a splash early on during his time with the Hooks as he hit grand slams in back-to-back games for the team within a week after his return.

Also, RHP Dayan Diaz, who started playing with the Houston organization in Venezuela in 2006 was reported by Baseball-America to have signed as a free agent with the Cubs organization. He pitched for Lexington in 2012.
